TTi have launched what they claim to be the "world's best"
laboratory dc power supply range - the QL Series.
The QL represents the ‘next generation’ of laboratory power supplies, maintaining the tradition of innovation started with the PL series in 1979 and continued throughout more than two decades.
It has been designed to offer advanced performance and features at a price that is competitive with conventional analogue controlled bench power supplies.
The QL series offers an unparalleled level of precision. Voltage and current are controlled using 16 bit DACs enabling voltages to be set to 1mV resolution even at full output.
Indeed, the accuracy is sufficient for the QL to be used as a calibration source for some hand-held
DMMs.
All-digital control enables voltage and current levels to be set directly
from a keypad or modified in analogue manner using a
spin-wheel. This provides both the fastest and safest means of
control.
The QL series uses pure linear technology and offers unrivalled performance in terms of regulation, output noise and dynamics.
Line and load regulation are close to the limit of measurement. Output noise is less than
350µV rms. Recovery time from transient current pulses is better than 50µs.
The QL series provides multiple ranges for increased current capability at lower voltages. The QL355, for example, is a
105W PSU with three ranges. The main range offers 0 to 35 volts at up to 3 amps. The higher current range provides up to 5 amps for voltages up to 15V. A further low current range provides an enhanced current setting and measurement resolution of 0.1mA.
The QL series has ten non-volatile memories for rapid recall of settings. Stored values are previewed onto the display before being confirmed. A further power-down memory ensures that all settings are restored when the unit is powered back on.
User settable over-voltage and over-current trips are included. An isolated output is provided on the rear panel for direct control of other equipment. Automatic shutdown is implemented for overheating through blocked ventilation, regulator failure, or sense lead
miswiring.
QL series PSUs have a compact footprint for bench use and can also be rack mounted. Up to three units can be mounted side by side. Duplicate rear terminals are available for rack use. Size is 141 x 171 x 300 mm and weight is 5.0 kilograms.
An optional bus interface is available incorporating fully isolated GPIB (IEEE-488), RS-232 and USB interfaces. The USB interface is particularly suited to direct control from a personal computer.
The QL Series costs
from Ł349 plus
vat in the U.K.
The approximate International starting prices is $570.
