The EX2020R, new from TTi, is a high current single output bench power
supply capable of currents up to 20 amps at voltages up to 20 volts.
The 400 watts output power capability is achieved despite the highly
compact case style which has dimensions of only 140 x 160 x 195mm.
Weight is just 3.6 kg.
The EX2020R uses mixed-mode regulation technology which combines
switch-mode pre-regulation with linear post-regulation. Special
techniques are used to maintain very high efficiency whilst achieving
noise levels that are close to that of a pure linear regulator.
To match its high current capability the power supply incorporates
remote sense terminals which can eliminate the effects of connection
lead resistance. Sensing can be selected as remote or local by a front
panel switch.
The EX2020R incorporates separate 4 digit voltage and current meters
giving a resolution of 10mV and 10mA. The meters use bright 14mm (0.56")
LED displays and have an update rate of 4 per second providing near
instantaneous response.
Line and load regulation are both better than 0.01% and output noise is
less than 2mV rms even at full power. High resolution controls allow
accurate setting of voltage and current levels.
The unit has been designed to meet the stringent requirements of
relevant IEC standards for safety and EMC. The output is intrinsically
short circuit proof, and is protected against external voltages and
reverse currents. Low heat output ensures that no part of the PSU
suffers excessive temperature rise.
The EX2020R costs £403 in the UK and Euro 610.
The approximate International price is $720.
